How to Analyze Trading Signals

Learn to evaluate signal providers using win rate, profit factor, drawdown, and other key performance metrics.

To analyze a signal provider on SignalFloor, review four core performance metrics: win rate (60%+ is excellent; 40-50% is still profitable at 1:3 risk-reward), profit factor (ratio of gross wins to gross losses, 1.5+ is good), maximum drawdown (peak-to-trough decline, under 15% is conservative), and average trade duration (matches scalping, day, swing, or position styles). Avoid providers with unrealistic return claims, no verified history, extreme leverage, missing stop losses, or pressure tactics. Look for verified third-party tracking, 6+ months of consistent performance, 1-2% risk per trade, and transparent loss reporting.

Key Performance Metrics

  • Win Rate

Percentage of trades that close in profit

    60%+
    Excellent
    50–60%
    Good
    40–50%
    Average
    <40%
    Poor

Win rate alone doesn’t tell the whole story. A 40% win rate with 1:3 R:R is more profitable than 60% with 1:1.

  • Profit Factor

Ratio of gross profit to gross loss

    2.0+
    Excellent
    1.5–2.0
    Good
    1.0–1.5
    Marginal
    <1.0
    Losing

Profit factor = Total Winning Trades ÷ Total Losing Trades. A value above 1.5 is generally good.

  • Maximum Drawdown

    Largest peak-to-trough decline in account

    <15%
    Conservative
    15–25%
    Moderate
    25–40%
    Aggressive
    >40%
    High Risk

Lower drawdown means more stable performance.

  • Average Trade Duration

How long positions are typically held

    Scalping
    Minutes–hours
    Day Trading
    Hours–EOD
    Swing
    Days–weeks
    Position
    Weeks–months

Match provider trading style to your availability.
